Ramkrishna Nagar, commonly known as RK Nagar is a small town under the juridictions of Karimganj. It is situated around 47 Km from Karimganj, Assam and 33.7 Km away from Son beel which is asia's 2nd largest wetland, the town is known for it's cultural values, literacy rate and natural beauty. The market serves and promotes locally produced vegetables. Ramkrishna Nagar College which is opened in 1964 is the only institution for higher education. The majority of the population of Ramkrishna Nagar are bengali-speaking hindus. The area has its own police station which was established in 1994. Locals often address the town as "mini Shillong" because of hilly nature.
